Recluse

Why am I having waiter dreams? And moreover why are they in McDonalds? If you've ever been a waiter, you probably sympathize. But usually they come in the few weeks or months when you first start working someplace. Oh no, I forgot that or...I've made this table wait forever or...How am I gonna do this special order.

But last night the McDonald's customers in my head had me running around getting chocolate mousse covered pretzels and low carb fish hash browns. At one point I was putting the order in to the computer and the food just popped out of the machine - then I had to work backwards cause it didn't give me a receipt for everything. My manager was some big gangly dark looking guy that couldn't figure out what was going on and didn't seem to care.

How very strange. I spent all of yesterday shut in and maybe it's cabin fever or something. I'd better go out and gamble away some money or anything else to get me out of these three rooms.

The Reason I Only Talk About My Cat...

Is because I have no life.

That said. I went out Friday night with people from my class to a bar called Double Down. It's sorta like a sports bar I guess...there's a deck outside and sand volleyball courts...but that's kinda it. Everything else is just sorta thrown in to make it sporty, it seemed to me. Wednesday was Tucker's birthday, so that's why we went. Redbull and vodka is a decent drink - cause I gotta not drink smirnoff ice - I am getting REEEMed for it.

Then yesterday I slept till about noon, woke up...took my laundry to the korean lady, went grocery shopping (it's been a good...month and a half), picked up my laundry...went home...fell asleep till 9 pm. Got up, played some video games, read some harry potter, fell asleep at about 3 am. Then I just woke up at about 2 pm cause the Professor came in, making a weird meow. It's cause his mouth had a big cricket in it he had found somewhere. I encouraged him so he'd keep killing the bastards.

The other day my friend Jason Copp came over and brought his new puppy. They're naming him Rudy, but I thought he should have been named Gyro.

The Mediocre Escape

One: The Professor, caught in this photograph in wicked contemplation of his next devilish plot.

Two: Sunday morning, May the 20th.

Three: A streak of some-to-very hot days finds the home of The Professor often with windows ajar as to let the cool night air calm the teeming innards of the apartment. The Professor could often be found next to these unsuspecting windows, apparently making aggressive noises at birds and children - alledgedy contemplating eating one. In reality, his intentions were far more sinister.

Four: The exit. On said morning in said location at one of said windows the owner of the ne'er do weller cat awoke to find exibit B - a screen cunningly dislodged from its place of...rest. Knowing that the cat would most likely seek to return to his gang - The Jets - with whom he used to "prowl," and not knowing how long The Professor had been at large, due to said owner sleeping a lot, said owner took to the streets.

Five: Several frantic minutes pass as said owner wanders said streets in search of said transient Professor. Finally, when all hope seemed lost, said owner steps back into the hallways of his apartment building, wondering if maybe, just maybe, through the months of a cush life in said apartment, the alley had gone out of the cat.

Six: Tentative meows come from the stairs next to door to said apartment. Indeed, it is the Professor. Lost and alone, he has returned to the hallway in front of said owners door which he frequents frequently. Mystery solved.

Breaking News: Professor apprehended again attempting another buggardly escape attempt during the writing of this very blog. Perhaps we've not yet heard the last of this...Mediocre Escape!!

The Revelation

I went shopping today. I was out at the post office mailing something and I decided to go and look for some artwork I could buy for my blank walls. I found some at Target. In the course of shopping, I also got 4 candles, 2 candle warmers, 2 sheets, a shower curtain and liner, a computer chair, and I think that's it. The artwork was actually one of the last things I ended up getting. In my head I was thinking that I needed some artwork, I needed it. My walls were too blank. They created an unwelcoming and ultimately unfulfilling, unhomely atmosphere. At the same time I was reminded of the words of Tyler Durden (through Chuck Palahnuik), "Why do I know what a duvee is? Is it essential to my survival, in the hunter gatherer sense of the word? No. So what are we?" "We're consumers." "Exactly." And then later. "We work jobs we hate so that we can buy shit we don't need." I feel like I have to surround myself with this stuff, but I don't. Pictures and candles make me feel good because I was born in America during the late 20th century. I don't need it, it does little if anything for me, and it takes resources away from things that might really be significant. I thought this, but I still bought all the "shit" I did.

Boom Boom Boom

My neighbor, I think the one above me, has been playing loud music since 6 am... It's the radio too...and I can almost hear every word the radio show host is saying. Kb 105.9, or something like that.

Snow me the Money (A Pun)

Here are some snow pictures and some other random stuff

This is walking into my apartment building, yes I know my finger's in the shot, but I didnt' want to go out and do it again, it's cold.

And one of me outside...not looking too good, but still, you can see the snow. Wow I'm white.

And the view from my living room window...very dirty window.
The next one is my dishwasher that hooks up to the sink. So pretty awesome.

The Boxes that were a Room

Everything is unpacked. Not arranged. My kitchen counter is covered in cleaning supplies, cords, and DVDs, but everything I'm keeping is finally out of the box. I separated out everything Erin's taking and put it in my "dining room" which will really be my "drum room" once it's clear...and once I have drums. Here are a few pictures from various perspectives of all the boxes in said drum room.

The TV is behind me in these two pictures, so you can compare it to the one with the TV in it from before. But behind this wall of boxes, on the right hand wall is a closet where I'm keeping cleaning supplies like the swiffer, the broom, and it's also temporarily my guitar closet, and I needed access to that. So I cut a path. The next picture is from the kitchen, which you can see off to the left in the previous pictures.

And one looking back at the kitchen...

I've had the tetris song running thru my head all night.

More

My stuff is coming tomorrow, which means goodbye air mattress, maybe.

Once my stuff is arranged I'm thinking of getting a cat, which means that amy and andrew can't stay with me unless I get a hairless cat, which isn't an option, but I can put amy and andrew up in billetting on base which will be like staying with me only cheaper and hopefully with more consistant water temperature. The water temperature here varies from mountain-stream-cold to I-have-to-grab-the-shower-curtain-to-use-as-a-shield-hot, all without the inconvenience of actually having to turn the knob on the faucet. I'm thinking of naming the cat Professor ______. Suggestions? The best I've thought of so far is Professor Eyeball. I'll call him/her Professor most of the time.

There is a "laundramat" (laundrymatte?) in this apartment building but it's $2.50 to do a load from wash to dry. Instead, I could take it to a Korean lady right at the base entrance who does it all, including ironing and folding, for $4, which is what I'll be doing. I can also say "Anyanghaseo," to her when I come in, in hopes of a discount (that's hello in korean, it's konichiwah in japanese, ni hao in chinese, and olé in spanish).

I'm probably going to get some new furniture, so I'd also like suggestions for a color scheme. As previously stated the carpet is tan and the walls are white. Red and black seems like it could work. Remember, nothing floral, and no variants of pink, with exception of red. I'll also be installing a disco ball, but I fear that in order to go with a red/black color scheme, I'll have to get a gold one, and those went out in the late 90s. But I'm not sure, any previous experience in this area?

Alright

Alright, this is the blog, forgive me for not posting more, the official ribbon-cutting wasn't slotted until second quarter '07 but it appears there's been some leakage despite my best efforts to disguise the name.

I just got internet here, Cox, and I have cable TV which is useless until a TV arrives wednesday. So in the living room of my one bedroom apartment there is: an internet modem and a stack of dvds. Otherwise the walls are white and the carpet is a tan - new carpet so, niiiiice. Using Renuzits I'm trying to infuse the carpet with the smell of vanilla instead of the cigarettes and soup aroma that permeates the hallway.

I heard my neighbors through the wall several times and thought they were speaking an asian languge. Not chinese - something like viatnamese or someatt. Then I hear them leaving their door this morning so I rush to the peephole to see what race they are, so that I can determine whether I should install more locks on the door, and some black people come out. Not only that, the woman was wearing one of those really colorful wraps. So I think I have somalian refugees living next door, and I'm thinking of reporting them unless I recieve donations of at least $20,000 in the next month.

This is what my apartment looks like from space. I'm in the middle "I" shaped building, in the top left part. My apartment is halfway below ground so it's protected from alien mind rays, tornados, etc.
