Snow me the Money (A Pun)

Here are some snow pictures and some other random stuff

This is walking into my apartment building, yes I know my finger's in the shot, but I didnt' want to go out and do it again, it's cold.

And one of me outside...not looking too good, but still, you can see the snow. Wow I'm white.

And the view from my living room window...very dirty window.
The next one is my dishwasher that hooks up to the sink. So pretty awesome.

Guappecarto

I found this group totally by accident, and I don't see a lot of info on them anywhere. Looks like they're a band local to Paris or something, but I think they're music's really cool.

Check em out...

Grand Canyon

So I'm thinking next time I'm in AZ I wanna do either the Havasupi trail or the...what is it...Angel something? Falling Angel...Dying Angel trail at the grand canyon down to the bottom. I need to do that kind of stuff before I'm too old, or blown up by a terrorist. So if anyone else wants to come along...

College

So on March 1st I'll be halfway thru my military soirée, and I'm thinkin I'm not gonna re-sign (though there are definitely perks to the military. For instance, one of the belts in my car has been squealing at me, and even occasionally smelling like burning, and also my windshield wiper fluid wasn't coming out. So I took it to the on base mechanic, and they fixed both, and guess how much it cost. EIGHTEEN DOLLARS!! I've NEVER ever spent anything near that little to fix ANYTHING in my car. It's hard to even get an oil change that cheap! Anyway...) . So I'm gonna take advantage of the GI Bill and I want to go to school as soon as I get out...probably the fall or summer of 2009. How early ahead do you need to apply? I've been looking at different schools, but should I start applying for scholarships and what not NOW? Anybody have any input?

Here's the beef

I've been sorta busy...kinda. I found out my class start date here, which is Feb. 12th, which is too bad cause I was hoping for a longer time where I got to sit around and do nothing. Some people have been here since september and STILL haven't started class. What's with their proactivity eh? Oh well.

I started doing krav maga. There's the studio literally across the street from my apartment complex, so me and 3 other air forcies are doing it. They also do an aerobic kick boxing thing and tae kwon do at that studio, which I can do for free. I haven't done the tae, but i did kick boxing yesterday and it was pretty fun. I've realized it's not exercising I don't like...it's more the "working out"- going to a gym, lifting weights, running...so boring. With this you feel it and you get tired of course, but it's cool what you're learning. I'd definitely recommend something like this to anyone that toys with exercising but doesn't like it, and you learn to woop ass too.

Also I spent $300 at walmart last night. YOWZA. It was getting real food, a vaccuum, a lampshade - mostly the real food, not taquitos and yogurt. Stuff for salads, eggs, ground beef...I'm quite the little homemaker.

Pictures of all this stuff coming later on.

Book Splurge

This is the plan: My house is pretty much set up, so now what I'm going to do is make myself read all the books I have that I haven't read yet before I can buy any new ones, and there's a bunch I want.

Poker Night

Here are some pictures of poker night at my house. I broke even, won one game and lost 2.High stakes: those chips there represent 3 million dollars. These are "the playas." The one on the right with the big guns is Kyle "Black T-Shirt" Wilson. The one in the back that appears to be vomitting into a bag is Colin "Can't Hold the Liquor" Sheffield. And the one on the left is Allen "Heavily Damaged Retinas" Barragan.
That's Jon Roe. He was the bouncer. Everyone calls him J-Bone (no they don't).
And that's me, cause I was there too.

The Boxes that were a Room

Everything is unpacked. Not arranged. My kitchen counter is covered in cleaning supplies, cords, and DVDs, but everything I'm keeping is finally out of the box. I separated out everything Erin's taking and put it in my "dining room" which will really be my "drum room" once it's clear...and once I have drums. Here are a few pictures from various perspectives of all the boxes in said drum room.

The TV is behind me in these two pictures, so you can compare it to the one with the TV in it from before. But behind this wall of boxes, on the right hand wall is a closet where I'm keeping cleaning supplies like the swiffer, the broom, and it's also temporarily my guitar closet, and I needed access to that. So I cut a path. The next picture is from the kitchen, which you can see off to the left in the previous pictures.

And one looking back at the kitchen...

I've had the tetris song running thru my head all night.

The TV

I had some of the guys over tonight to watch the Office, so we cleared out the living room and hooked up the tv. You'll notice the Professor there again. They left pretty soon after it was over, and I flipped through the channels. I think watching TV while not doing anything else makes me kind of sad, I don't know why. Right now it makes me feel sort of lonely I think, cause it's such a false kind of socializing. It seems like it fills up your mind but it's pretty thin as far as what it gives you. Also, there was nothing good on, and since the remote is still buried in a box somewhere, I ended up watching an MTV "Duel" marathon. Maybe it's just that that was depressing...

The Professor

Here's the guy. I don't think he's eaten anything still. But he'll get hungry enough I'm thinking that it won't matter if he likes what I got him or not. This picture's with the new camera I got today. It was only like 75 bucks, and I don't think I can set the white balance, just pick from some presets, so that's what you get. I'll have more pictures of my apartment and stuff. It's pretty cluttered still.

Felinicide

Not to be confused with the hit TV show, Felicity, this is a word describing the deaths of at least thousands of cats EVERY DAY. I was in the animal shelter, debating whether to get a cat or to wait till I had situated my stuff (which came today and is blocking most walkways at the moment).

I started talking to one of the girls that worked there, and I think I asked about why there were no older cats, cause the oldest was only like 3-4 years old. She said it's usually the older ones that get put to sleep first. I said, Oh, so you put some to sleep recently? And she said, Yeah, we have to put some to sleep every day. It all depends on how many come in each day. For instance, today 3 came in, so tomorrow we have to put 3 to sleep. Some days 10 come in, so we have to put 10 to sleep the next day. Whaaaaaa?

So that sealed it. I was looking at this 3 year old male siamese who was really cool looking. I've never seen a real siamese in a shelter, so I got him. 20 bucks, cause he was neutered and everything, even front declawed. The people who gave him up gave him up cause he was getting jealous of the baby they were having or something. They had named him Courage though, so clearly they didn't know anything about him. His name is obviously "The Professor."

He's three. So by the time he dies, if he lives to 15, I'll be 34. Good god. I hope I don't need a walker.

Digital Camera

Alright, I am going to get a digital camera cause I discovered I need it at least to take pictures of the stuff from our house in Monterey that I'm not keeping here, and am going to try and sell. I don't need anything fancy though, under $100 would be ideal, so if you have any ideas for brand or whatever, let me know. I have a $50 best buy gift certificate I planned on using for this too.

PVC

The new songs for the new album are up. It seems a little buggy, the songs just stop in the middle for some reason. But maybe you'll have more luck - and if you do, you'll thank your lucky stars.

More

My stuff is coming tomorrow, which means goodbye air mattress, maybe.

Once my stuff is arranged I'm thinking of getting a cat, which means that amy and andrew can't stay with me unless I get a hairless cat, which isn't an option, but I can put amy and andrew up in billetting on base which will be like staying with me only cheaper and hopefully with more consistant water temperature. The water temperature here varies from mountain-stream-cold to I-have-to-grab-the-shower-curtain-to-use-as-a-shield-hot, all without the inconvenience of actually having to turn the knob on the faucet. I'm thinking of naming the cat Professor ______. Suggestions? The best I've thought of so far is Professor Eyeball. I'll call him/her Professor most of the time.

There is a "laundramat" (laundrymatte?) in this apartment building but it's $2.50 to do a load from wash to dry. Instead, I could take it to a Korean lady right at the base entrance who does it all, including ironing and folding, for $4, which is what I'll be doing. I can also say "Anyanghaseo," to her when I come in, in hopes of a discount (that's hello in korean, it's konichiwah in japanese, ni hao in chinese, and olé in spanish).

I'm probably going to get some new furniture, so I'd also like suggestions for a color scheme. As previously stated the carpet is tan and the walls are white. Red and black seems like it could work. Remember, nothing floral, and no variants of pink, with exception of red. I'll also be installing a disco ball, but I fear that in order to go with a red/black color scheme, I'll have to get a gold one, and those went out in the late 90s. But I'm not sure, any previous experience in this area?

Alright

Alright, this is the blog, forgive me for not posting more, the official ribbon-cutting wasn't slotted until second quarter '07 but it appears there's been some leakage despite my best efforts to disguise the name.

I just got internet here, Cox, and I have cable TV which is useless until a TV arrives wednesday. So in the living room of my one bedroom apartment there is: an internet modem and a stack of dvds. Otherwise the walls are white and the carpet is a tan - new carpet so, niiiiice. Using Renuzits I'm trying to infuse the carpet with the smell of vanilla instead of the cigarettes and soup aroma that permeates the hallway.

I heard my neighbors through the wall several times and thought they were speaking an asian languge. Not chinese - something like viatnamese or someatt. Then I hear them leaving their door this morning so I rush to the peephole to see what race they are, so that I can determine whether I should install more locks on the door, and some black people come out. Not only that, the woman was wearing one of those really colorful wraps. So I think I have somalian refugees living next door, and I'm thinking of reporting them unless I recieve donations of at least $20,000 in the next month.

This is what my apartment looks like from space. I'm in the middle "I" shaped building, in the top left part. My apartment is halfway below ground so it's protected from alien mind rays, tornados, etc.
